October 1st was a day of FIRSTS and MOSTS in Cochise County. This year was the FIRST Cochise Celebrates Giving celebration that included collaborative giving between the Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona and the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise. This is the FIRST year that grant monies were able to spread farther and deeper as a result of the collaboration. And this is the MOST grant monies given during this celebration since its inception 5 years ago.
The Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona joined forces with Arizona Community Foundation/Cochise to award 30 grants to local nonprofit organizations. The grants were given during the annual Cochise Celebrates Giving event hosted by Arizona Community Foundation/Cochise and held at Cochise College.
With a mission towards population health and community wellness, the Legacy Foundation funded grants more specific to addressing those needs. Legacy Foundation funded eight grants:
Alcoholism Council of Cochise County
Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter of Southern Arizona Region
Bisbee Coalition for the Homeless
Douglas ARC
Easterseals Blake Foundation
Naco Wellness Initiative
Soldier’s Best Friend
University of Arizona Cooperative Extension
Legacy Foundation joined forces with Arizona Community Foundation/Cochise to fund two additional grants:
National Alliance on Mental Illness Southeastern Arizona
Southeast Arizona Area Health Education Center, Inc.
During a wonderful time of grant presentations and celebrations of nonprofit organizations, many smiles and words of appreciation were shared.
In a special recognition, the Legacy Foundation received the Copper Ambassador Award.
