The Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona awarded the recipients of the Innovative Grant for FY 2019. Nine organizations were awarded collectively over $440,300.
The projects cover services for all ages and cover areas across Cochise County. From children’s dental services, to Bisbee harm reduction, to a technical rescue team in Sunsites-Pearce, the projects fill gaps in our communities and will fulfill the mission of the Legacy Foundation: To Promote Population Health and Wellness Throughout Southeast Arizona.
Here is a summary of the awards:
- Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern Arizona, Inc. was awarded $62,233.00 for a Ronald McDonald Care Mobile Unit: Necessary materials and supplies for a new mobile dental clinic in Cochise County
- Cochise Family Advocacy Center, Inc. was awarded $32,600.00 for Medical Standard for Accreditation Best Practice: Camera equipment for hands-free photos and video during a forensic exam
- City of Sierra Vista was awarded $49,000.00 for the Rothery Sports Complex: Upgrading the Rothery Sports Complex in collaboration with the school district
- Sunsites-Pearce Fire District was awarded $60,000.00 for RESCUE II: Equipment and training for swift water rescues, farm emergencies, mining disasters, and tactical rescue techniques
- Southeastern Arizona Behavioral Health Services, Inc. was awarded $21,000.00 for Cochise Youth Leadership and Empowerment Project: Leadership training and empowerment for Student Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) Clubs
- Cochise Health and Social Services was awarded $50,000.00 for a Bisbee/Naco Community Activity Path: Public walking paths with exercise equipment around the CHSS complex in Bisbee
- All The King’s Horses Children’s Ranch was awarded $70,000.00 for a Worker Accommodations Area (“WAA”) Capital Construction Project: RV parking area for volunteers who are working to upgrade the Ranch
- Healthy Bisbee Inc was awarded $41,500.00 for Healthy Bisbee: Expand Goar Park Lunches and provide Harm Reduction
- The Salvation Army was awarded $55,000.00 for a Youth After School Project at the Salvation Army Community Center: Youth after school programs on the west end of town.
