Legacy Foundation Holiday event – Giving Thanks

We had a wonderful gathering last night at the Legacy Foundation holiday event, Giving Thanks. Cochise College catering provided delicious food. A Sierra Vista Symphony trio provided beautiful music. The Legacy Foundation offered festive table decorations and treats. It was nice to be together again with friends.

Special guest speaker, Kevin Hines, shared his journey with “brain pain”, his story of attempting suicide by jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, and his journey of survival.

Kevin asked the attendees how many of them know someone who committed suicide. Half the hands in the room went up. A very sad reality and glimpse into one of the problems we’re faced with in our communities.

This holiday season, give that extra hug. Tell people you appreciate them. Let people know you love them just for who they are. Sincerely ask, “How are you doing?”. Have compassion. Be kind. Be thankful.
