In the works… a new Community Event & Retreat Centers

The Legacy Foundation broke ground today on its new Community Event Center and Retreat Center. The event was attended by community leaders; current and former Legacy Foundation Board members; Legacy Foundation staff; Highton Company, LLC Commercial Architectural Services; Cochise Tech and Development, LLC, builders; and neighboring businesses.

The event was kicked off by a welcome to all from the CEO of the Legacy Foundation, Margaret Hepburn.  Next, Michael Groves, Legacy Foundation Board chair, acknowledged the effort put into the concept and design of the Event Center, from the Board, staff, architects and builder. Large concept drawings of both buildings were unveiled.

Julie Highton-Snedeker and Gary Highton, architects, gave appreciation to the city of Sierra Vista for their support in the process. The buildings will be energy efficient, state-of-the art, beautifully designed space for nonprofits to hold fundraising events, conferences, meetings and more. The Event Center will seat up to 150 people and have a full commercial kitchen and state-of-the-art technology.

Jonathan Isaacson, builder, talked about the complexities of the building and working within a small footprint of space in the middle of a business complex. The renovation of the Retreat Center will be completed shortly before the completion of the Event Center. Expected completion of both buildings is in 2026.

Following the presentations, Mayor McCaa and the Legacy Foundation Board directors each donned their hard hat, claimed their shovel, and officially broke ground.

A light lunch followed the event, catered by Cafe Roka.
