Margaret’s Recognition

November 2018

Margaret Hepburn, CEO of the Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona, was recognized for outstanding service to Sierra Vista and Cochise County in a surprise celebration coordinated by members of the Legacy Foundation Board and other community leaders.

During a holiday celebration, and unexpected by Ms. Hepburn, Brian Barkdull, Legacy Foundation Board Chair, The Honorable Mayor Rick Mueller of Sierra Vista, and Sheriff Mark Dannels of the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department each made a presentation to Ms. Hepburn for her distinguished service as a community leader.

The Honorable Mayor Rick Mueller recognized Ms. Hepburn with a Proclamation as a distinctive and exemplary leader in Sierra Vista and Cochise County. He noted how her visionary leadership was instrumental in the creation in 2013 of the Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona, a health conversion foundation with a corpus of over $50 million. Mayor Mueller also commented on how Ms. Hepburn was instrumental in turning a dream of a new hospital for Sierra Vista into a reality and how her dedication to promoting healthcare is helping to shape Sierra Vista and Cochise County into healthier communities.

Mr. Barkdull lauded Ms. Hepburn’s leadership in guiding the Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona through its first five years as a successful community foundation. Mr. Barkdull expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the Legacy Foundation Board of Directors for Ms. Hepburn’s expertise and wisdom in leading the Foundation from infancy to maturity as a new foundation. He added that he is looking forward to the many more years of success under her leadership still.

Sheriff Dannels, on behalf of Cochise County and the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department, commended Ms. Hepburn for her outstanding contributions to enhancing the quality of life in Cochise County. As a citizen who upholds public safety, Sheriff Dannels additionally awarded Ms. Hepburn a souvenir Copper Sheriff’s License Plate and a glass plaque.

Past and present members of the Boards of the Legacy Foundation and Sierra Vista Regional Health Center, where Ms. Hepburn was previously CEO, attended the event.

Ms. Hepburn, not one for surprises, graciously accepted the well-deserved accolades, thanked everyone for the recognition and humorously reminded everyone she has no retirement plans for now.

Congratulations Margaret!
