Legacy Foundation Awards Nearly $200,000 in Grants in December 2016

The Legacy Foundation of Southeast Arizona celebrated giving during the month of December by awarding seven local nonprofit organizations with Innovative Grants. Just under $200,000 was awarded during December for the first year of projects that support or enhance innovation in action.

Awardees are:

American Red Cross for installing smoke detectors and for training children in fire safety

Boys and Girls Club of Sierra Vista for a new vehicle to transport children to various youth activities

Child and Family Resources to extend outreach and services to new parents

Cochise Family Advocacy Center to extend the service area for victims of domestic violence and stalking

Good Samaritan Quiburi Mission to pilot a Music and Memories Project

Southeast Arizona Health Education Center (SEAHEC) to build a new community center at Winchester Heights

Whisper’s Sanctuary to offer caregiver self-care respite workshops

In year two, Quiburi Mission and SEAHEC will receive additional funds totaling $83,600 to complete their projects.

A celebration of giving was held  on Thursday, January 12th, 2017 to recognize the recipients and their projects.
